Ren as Daily Practice

This is one of the most encouraging lines in the Analects. Confucius declares that ren is not some distant achievement reserved for sages—it arrives the moment one genuinely desires it. The barrier to humaneness is not ability but will. Ren is as close as the next intentional act of kindness.
